Step back in time and enjoy a delightful Afternoon Tea on Board a Steam Train in the picturesque Causey Valley, home to the world’s oldest railway. Passengers are invited to relax in a beautifully restored Victorian carriage, hauled by a vintage steam locomotive, while soaking in the tranquil countryside views.

During the 1 hour and 15-minute journey, guests will be served a delicious selection of sandwiches, scones, and homemade cakes, complemented by plenty of tea or coffee throughout the ride. For added flexibility, each Afternoon Tea ticket also includes all-day travel on the railway perfect for exploring at your leisure before or after your tea experience.

• The service departs from East Tanfield station; please ensure you arrive at the correct location on time.
• All passengers, including children, must be seated due to limited space and safety requirements.
• Children under the age of 5 cannot be accommodated on the Afternoon Tea carriage.
• Dogs (except assistance dogs) are not allowed in the Afternoon Tea carriage.
• Due to the age of the carriage, wheelchair access is not available. Access requires a small step up and a short walk to your seats.
