About: Raise a glass and celebrate the May Bank Holiday in style at Blackfriars' very first Beer Festival, set within the atmospheric grounds of a 13th-century medieval friary.
Taking place in the stunning Cloister Garden complete with heated parasols, fire pits, festoon lighting, lush greenery, and rustic stone and wood features this is the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy the best of local brewing. With all-weather level access, the space is designed for comfort, whatever the forecast. Guests can also explore the historic Medieval Banquet Hall, where a curated lineup of local brewers will be pouring their finest craft beers.
Enjoy tastings from eight brilliant local breweries, including the friary’s own St Dominic’s Brewery, proudly marking its first anniversary. Founded in 2024, St Dominic’s Brewery draws inspiration from Dominican brewing heritage, where friars brewed ale as commonly as they baked bread. After the friary’s dissolution, the Brewers & Bakers Guild continued the tradition meeting in the Chapter House. Today, the story continues with house-brewed ale and daily bread from the grounds.
