About:
Christmas Day wouldn’t be the same without a traditional Christmas cake to round off your festive meal. Join the team at Blackfriars Cookery School and create your very own 6” Christmas cake from scratch where you'll be using a variety of dried fruits soaked in alcohol like brandy, rum, whisky, or sherry to bring out the rich flavours.
This Christmas Day bake has roots right back to the Middle Ages when dried fruits became more accessible. By the 18th-Century, fruitcakes were only made for special occasions like weddings and Christmas due to the high cost of ingredients. During this workshop, you’ll not only bake a cake but also learn creative variations and twists to personalise your Christmas cake. Plus, you’ll get to decorate a pre-made fruitcake base with icing, leaving the event with two beautifully crafted fruit Christmas cakes and a new skill just in time for the big day!
For home cooks who want to explore something new. Blackfriars cookery classes are relaxed, informative and fun and are specially designed by teaching chefs to give you skills and confidence in the kitchen.
