What to Expect?
Departing from Seahouses, sail to the Farne Islands before journeying onto Holy Island. This provides a good opportunity to see the Northumberland Coastline from a different view, with some stunning scenery along the way.
When arriving at Holy Island the tide will be high and the island is cut off from the mainland so that the true peace and tranquillity of island life can be experienced. Two hours are spent ashore, allowing time to explore this historic island. Popular places to visit are the Priory Museum (English Heritage), Lindisfarne Castle (National Trust), St Aidan’s Winery (where a free sample of mead can be enjoyed), and the Museum of Island Life and Visitor Centre. Holy Island also has several cafes, pubs and shops.
(Opening times of the attractions vary so please check before sailing)
On the return journey, sail home we will have seaward views of both Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castles. As well as Stag Rock Lighthouse and you never know we might stumble across some dolphins along the way.

Highlights
What makes this activity truly special is the sense of discovery it offers. You’re not just ticking off a sightseeing list—you’re immersing yourself in a place shaped by centuries of history, wildlife, and folklore. The journey connects you with stories of saints and seafarers while surrounding you with some of the most dramatic scenery on the Northumberland coast.
Another highlight is the wildlife. During the seabird breeding season all the seabirds and of course the cute grey seals. You might be lucky and see some bottlenose dolphins, the trip gives you front-row seats to some of Britain’s best natural spectacles. The Farnes are alive with seasonal changes, meaning no two visits ever feel quite the same. It’s a chance to witness nature at its rawest and most beautiful.
There’s also a rare sense of peace and escape. Being out on the water, away from the rush of everyday life, gives you the time to slow down and truly take in your surroundings. The fresh sea air, wide horizons, and ever-changing light create an experience that feels both invigorating and restorative.
Most of all, this trip is about connection—whether that’s with the landscape, the wildlife, or the rich cultural heritage of Northumberland. Many visitors say they come away with not just memories, but a deeper appreciation for this remarkable corner of the world.
