Introduction to SUP at Whitley Bay

This introductory lesson with Northerly Swell will take you from zero to hero. No prior experience is needed, the only requirement is that you aren’t scared of the water. Simply show up with a swimsuit, towel, and a positive attitude, and the team will take care of the rest.

The session includes approximately 30 minutes on land and an hour on the water, during which 90% of participants are standing up and paddling. An expert instructor will spend time talking you through the conditions, focusing on the wind strength, wind direction, tide, and waves.

When participating in our group SUP lessons, you will be provided with a full length wetsuit, rash vest and buoyancy aid alongside paddleboarding equipment.

Important information:

• Northerly Swell will only allow lessons or rental of equipment if the conditions are suitable. They reserve the right to stop rentals at any time without notice due to unsuitable sea conditions, changing weather forecasts, safety concerns or any other circumstances beyond our control.
• Proof of ID is required when participating in a group SUP lesson and renting our equipment, this can be any government issued photo ID.
• No experience is necessary, however, you will be asked to state your experience level when signing the disclaimer.
